How will these ingredients support your gut health?

Greek yogurt

Greek yogurt contains live cultures, aka ‘good’ bacteria, which support healthy digestion and immune function. Greek yogurt is also high in protein, a macronutrient that’s important for cellular production and repair, and keeps you feeling full for longer. This means you’ll be less likely to reach for a snack throughout the day, giving your digestive system time to rest and digest between meals.

Be sure to read the ingredients on the container and look out for added sugar. We’d also recommend avoiding ‘low fat’ or ‘Greek yogurt style’ as they won’t have the same positive effects.

Oats

Rolled oats are a great source of resistant starch, a type of prebiotic fibre that your friendly gut bacteria can feed on. Eating rolled oats nourishes the gut and works to maintain bowel regularity. It also helps with regulating your appetite by making you feel full for longer.

Berries

Berries are packed with fibre, which supports healthy digestion and stabilises blood sugar levels (in combination with the protein from other ingredients). They also contain high amounts of phytonutrients and antioxidants that can help fight cell damage, including cells in the digestive tract.

Chia seeds

Chia seeds contain omega 3s, protein and fibre. The fibre in chia seeds supports optimal stool formation and promotes bowel regularity. Chia seeds also absorb water and expand in the stomach, keeping you feeling full until your next meal.

Almond butter

Almonds, as well as being high in vitamin E and other minerals, are another source of prebiotics that can help boost levels of beneficial gut bacteria. They can also help to reduce high levels of cholesterol.

100% raw cacao powder

Raw cacao powder contains gut-loving prebiotics, making it great for nourishing beneficial gut bacteria. It also contains gut-healthy antioxidants called flavonols. Beneficial bacteria can ferment these antioxidants into smaller, absorbable compounds that make their way into your bloodstream, making it good for heart health, brain health, your immune system and more.

Gut Biome Zooki

We recently launched Gut Biome Zooki, our first ever gut-supporting supplement. It’s packed with 35 billion live bacteria from three hand-picked strains which are protected from the damaging effects of stomach acid by being encapsulated in lipids. Thanks to the natural Blueberry and Lemon flavour, it’ll add a subtle fruity touch to your breakfast.
